“Rediscovering Discipleship Part 3 – The Command” – Matthew 22:36-40 & John 13:34-35 | February 20, 2022 | Pastor Chad Friestad
Are you ready for part 3 of “Rediscovering Discipleship?”
In part three of our series we’ll look at the third component of discipleship: The Command.
What command, you might ask?
The Bible is full of commands. Jesus gave countless commands to his disciples. But there’s one that stands out above the rest: love. Love for God and love for others.
If we want to grow in love for God and one another, we might as well get good at it! It starts with a right understanding of the love Jesus calls us to have for others.
Listen to the message as we unpack the command of Jesus in Matthew 22:36-40 and John 13:34-35.
Matthew 22:36-40 and John 13:34-35 ESV
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
John 13:34-35 ESV
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
