“The Truth of Transformation” – Romans 12:1-2 | January 2, 2022 | Pastor Chad Friestad
What’s the difference between change and transformation? Change has to do with something specific that’s different in your life such as moving to a new house, starting to go to the gym, or deciding to read through the Bible in a year. Transformation on the other hand, is the longterm impact of those specific changes, such as gaining a new community of people in your life, feeling healthier from exercise, or a strengthened trust in God.
As we look at Romans 12:1-2, we’ll focus on the power of the gospel to transform us. We’ll talk about the difference between a New Year’s resolution and a gospel transformation. Where do you desire to see change in your life that only God can change? Are you willing to pray, “God, do whatever it takes to do this transformation in my life. Make me willing to be pruned. Make my heart and mind open to the struggle I might experience in order to experience a deep transformation, not simply a behavior modification.”
Romans 12:1-2 ESV
A Living Sacrifice
12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
